Just wanted to say hello to everyone...
Also, I was born in the US of Mexican descent and my fiance is British. So far, I've gotten some slack from some of my extended family members, that I don't really talk to anyway, about me marrying non-Mexican. My immediate family has been completely supportive and treat like him he was one of the family. Now I'm off next week to meet his family in the UK and I'm frightened. Well, not so much fright, but definitely nervous. His mom has already suggested that we forego marriage and just live together...suffice to say, I'm not exactly thrilled on spending time with her.

Tue, May 3, 2005 - 8:32 AMjust do what makes you both happy. they dont have to live with either of you. my husband is black an di KNOW my dad isnt too happy about it, and when eer i go to HUGE family functions like weddings for his side i know i am stared at like what in the hell!?! but its okay, cuz they dont have to live with me, and my family doesnt have to live with him.

It's hard enough dealing with the crap within a relationship let alone having to deal with guerrilla tactics on the outskirts! I know how nerve wracking meeting less than happy potential innys can be but as long as the two of you are solid like M.C Hammer said " you can't touch this". Love your man and enjoy the world with him create your own family be strong in the knowledge that Love can never be brought to the wrong house. I wish you luck...
Oh yeah regarding your own family; someone will always have something to say, that was also my experience, the only ones who count are those who can respect you and love you enough to allow you to be loved!!!
